We are looking for a Safety Management Engineer for a project in Vietnam. The assignment will have a duration of about 25 staff-months in 40 months project duration.

The project is an infrastructure project for a large port facility in Vietnam.

The candidate shall have a minimum of 10 years experience in similar positions and projects, but preferably 15 years.

The Safety Management Engineer will be responsible for the Safety of Construction in the working area. His tasks will cover, but not be limited to, the following:

– To set up and finalize Safety Communication Network

– To chair the Safety Monthly Meeting with the Contractor

– To monitor the contractor’s Safety Control Process

– To pick up the poor or weak points of his Safety Control Process

– To issue the warning letter to improve his Safety Control Process

– To prepare and finalize the Monthly Safety Control Report

The Port Engineer (Quay and Retaining Wall) will be responsible for supervision of the quay and retaining wall components. His tasks will cover, but not be limited to, the following:

– To manage the environmental aspect and safety control in quay and retaining wall construction

– To monitor the progress of construction works and make his comments and opinions to the Deputy PM/Civil Engineer

– To inspect and make instructions on the workmanship, quality and quantity of materials

– To certify the progress of works and monthly progress payment

– To check the shop drawings and as-built drawings

– To certify the final quantity of the BOQ

– To check and certify the amendment drawings and quantity, if required

The Environmental/Social Expert will be responsible for the environmental aspects of the project and will up-date environmental mitigation plans to avoid or minimize any adverse effects.  His tasks will cover, but not be limited to, the following:

– To review the environmental mitigation plan including social management submitted by the Contractor

– To chair the Environmental Monthly Meeting with the Contractor

– To monitor the contractor’s Environmental/Social Management Process

– To pick up the poor or weak points of his Environmental Control Process

– To propose countermeasure in order to avoid adverse conditions to mitigate environmental and social issue

– To recommend additional monitoring, if required

– To issue the warning letter to improve his Environmental Control Process

– To prepare and finalize the Monthly Environmental Control Report

– To assist MPMU2 in supervising the program for prevention of HIV/AIDS by People’s Committee of Hai Phong City

The succesfull candidate will perform all the required Program Management Services. He/She shall initiate, plan, control and execute, perform assessment and make recommendations (Management Skills)

The candidate must have experience with Marine and ports projects, Project Management Services for Mega Projects Sector. The candidate must also have experience with canals, transport and infrastructure as well as residential and resort construction projects. The expert should have extensive and profound experience in program management of large development projects. The candidate will lead a permanent team of 7 persons and ensure the implementation of the program. Fluent in English goes without say.

This is for the Boubyan Seaport Project in the State of Kuwait.
