Job Description

Main activity for the next 12 months:

Grouting works, consolidation grouting, grout curtains, Lugeon tests

Other activities:

 Foundation assessments for dams and dykes, headworks (other structures: already done)

 Slope protection, rock anchors, shotcrete

Mapping of foundations and slopes (done by Contractor but to be controlled our client)

 Reservoir Mapping

 Dewatering of excavation pits, hydrology, relief wells, piezometers

 Quarry works, assessment of material qualities

 Blasting applications

 Geological reports (incl. Final Geological Report)

– Degree in Civil Engineering is a must

– The candidate must have deep experience in supervision of embankment dams, specifically earth fill dams

– Soil mechanics expereince is essential

– Engineers who have done any construction in their professional life time will not be considered for this large embankment dam project

– The candidate must have good expereince with FIDIC contracts preferably in hydropower and dam projects

– The contract engineer must be able to proffessionally handle a more than 1 billion US$ hydropower project

– Expereince in similar projects is required

Our client in turn is now looking for a ‘Senior Embankment Engineer’.

–   Accommodation is currently in containers. A camp with concrete/brick houses is under construction and should be ready by January 2012.

Job Description

The Senior Embankment Engineer will assist the Chief Embankment Design Engineer in the design of the main embankment dams, including the plastic concrete cut-off wall, as described above, in the design of embankment dykes and in earthwork structures.

The main duties of the Senior Dam Stability Analyst will be the following:

–   Assist the Chief Embankment Design Engineer in his duties as mentioned above.

–   Design the embankment dykes and the earthwork structures;

–   Co-operate with the CAD Engineers in the preparation of the drawings for embankment dams, dykes, all earthwork structures and slopes;

–   Co-operate with the Dam Stability Analyst with regard to the results of stability calculations, zoning and optimisation of the works.

The project is due to last approximately 20 months in total.
