The Manager Quality, EHS & Performance Improvement is responsible for all Quality, EHS and BPI related activities in the Business Unit

Business Role

The Manager of Quality, EHS and Performance Improvement manages his team in order to provide professional support to the operational management and process owners concerning quality, environment, health & safety (QEHS) management, process improvement, Quality Assurance and Control. He facilitates the comprehension for superior business processes and requirements and QEHS within the organization.

Main Duties & Responsabilities

GENERAL: The Manager of Quality&EHS and Process Improvement:

• behaves according to ALSTOM code of ethics and values
• collaborates with the related parties to Quality, EHS, Business Process Improvement and Information Technology within PS3
• is member of the Business Unit Management Team
• fulfils the goals and objectives of the Business Unit as agreed with line manager
• ensures that all resources of his team are managed efficiently and according to the company policy and the agreed objectives
• ensures appropriate development and training for the subordinates and lead yearly employee performance appraisals
• ensures appropriate information exchange with the subordinates
• plans, deploys, and controls the department budget

Business Unit Processes and Management System

• ensures that an integrated management system compliant with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 is established and maintained
• ensures the integration of business, quality, environmental, health and safety directives issued by Power Service Sector/Region
• ensures that targets set by the Business Unit and the Power Service Region are supported by the management system
• ensures that the business unit processes are mapped and continuously improved based on feedback from business activities
• ensures the planning, coordination and execution of EHS-, internal- and external quality audits as required
• ensures the required level of training to the employees in matters related to Quality, EHS, Management System and Performance Improvement
• ensures the monthly and yearly reporting to the superior functions in the Business Unit and the Power Service Region

Business Process Improvement

• implement and drive the Improvement process
• support the management team in the deployment, execution, assessment and review of Business Performance improvement progress compared with the business plan
• represent belts on the Management Team
• ensure together with Finance that charters show the financial benefits
• ensure that all of the improvement projects follow the appropriate methodology
• Select Project Teams in conjunction with Black Belts, Managers and Sponsors
• Identify opportunities where Projects can be re-applied
• Manage the Performance Improvement recognition system
• Ensure required reporting to Business Unit Management, and superior Power Service Region- and Sector Functions

Quality Assurance and Control

• ensures together with Technical Services Dept. and Supply Chain Dept. the execution of Supplier Assessments and Supplier Qualifications and if required in coordination with the related SEC’s  (Service Execution Center)
• provides expert support regarding Quality Control in the project execution phases (specification for purchase order, check of order and manufacturing documentation, kick-off-meetings, expediting, inspection & testing, follow-up of actions, supplier documentation)
• provides support to Logistics for Inspections & Tests of ordered material

Key qualification:

Masters Degree in Electro-mechanical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or Process Engineering with a minimum professional experience of 20 years in O+M of pumping stations or other comparable facilities.

Main tasks shall be:

– Represent the Client against the contractors in all matters of the O+M activities of above facilities

– Review and comment on the current agreement of the contractor with the Client with regard to adequate O+M tasks and activities of the facilities and prepare recommendations if necessary

– Review and comment on preventive maintenance plans to be prepared by the contractor and prepare recommendations if necessary

– Review and comment on stock control of spare parts to be prepared by the contractor and prepare recommendations if necessary

– Review and comment on the staffing of the contractor in terms of quantity and qualification and prepare recommendations if necessary

– Review and comment on the data management system of the contractor for collecting and documenting all data and any other information which is relevant for the proper operation of the facilities and prepare recommendations if necessary

– Review and comment on system failure reports of the contractors and prepare recommendations if necessary

– Review and comment on safety and HACCP (Hazard analysis and critical control points) concepts of the contractors and prepare recommendations if necessary

– Review and comment on existing O+M manuals and prepare recommendations if necessary

– Review and comment on all required tests to be performed by the contractor and prepare recommendations if necessary

Responsibilities

Taking technical responsibility for atmospheric oxidation furnaces, polysilicon deposition, silicon nitride deposition furnaces, pre-diffusion cleans and other wet processing operations. The main tool types that they will need experience in are Semi tool and Aviza furnaces, as well as FSI and CFM cleaning tools).

Develop and optimize cleaning and diffusion recipes for CMOS and bipolar process flows

Manage process changes through the process of risk analysis, FMEA and change control reviews and comprehensive technical reporting and documentation

Lead teams in problem solving activities using a range of problem solving tools within the 8 step problem solving process

Monitor and improve tool and module performance through effective data analysis and the application of SPC and conformance reporting

Improve defect density in the diffusion and wafer cleaning operations

Experience Required

Minimum 4 years equipment / process engineering experience in semiconductors industry with a demonstrable record of success

Experience running problem or task oriented teams in process area / owned toolset Demonstrated technical competence achieving sustained equipment performance

Qualifications

Application should hold a degree / HND or equivalent qualification and / or have experience in a technical field.

Other Information

The position is based in Plymouth area. The successful applicant will report to the Frontend and Films Process Team Leader.

This position requires working a shift pattern, including working 1 weekend in 3 (Sam -5pm).

The salary banding for this position is approx £28 – £30k dependent on experience, plus a 13% shift premium.
