One of our Italian consultancies is looking to fill a position in the Middle East. They are looking to fill the post of Geologist Specialist for a building project in Sauid Arabia. The candidate must be as follows:

Holds a university degree in civil engineering majoring in Geotechnical with an experience of not less than 10 years in similar projects. Experience in soil tests standards, pressure tests, composition tests. Strong skills in reviewing soil reports and coordinate with other construction teams. Experience with building projects is a must.

The project consists of Design Review and Supervision of works for several building related to the Ministry of Interior in Saudi Arabia. One of our German consultancies is looking for an all round well experienced Geologist for one of their dam projects in Africa. They are looking for the following:

General Conditions are as the following:

– Duration would be 1 year with an option for extension

– Education: MSc or higher

– The required relevant experience would be minimum 15 years

– Contract language is English

– The Chief Engineering Geologist is assisted by a number of Sudanese geologists.

– No personal income tax in the Sudan

– Working time would be 7 days per week, with 0.23 days of paid leave per day of work

– Accommodation is in a newly built camp with solid concrete & brick houses

– Holiday of up to 30 days per year can be coordinated with the CRE

– Three meals per day are provided on site at the civil contactor’s canteen for local and expatriate staff of the Engineer (western type of meals)

Your working environment:

Your new Field of Activity is the Department ‘Geotechnical Engineering, Geology and Dams’ (GW3) within the Hydropower and Water Resources Division.

Your responsibilities:

– Design and analysis related to surface and underground excavation, dam foundations, rock support and grouting works

– Short assignments on construction sites to examine the site conditions and adapt the design accordingly

– Feasibility, tender and detailed design in rock engineering

– Designing, monitoring and evaluating of site investigation and laboratory programs

– Supervising of geotechnical works

Your profile

You are a graduate geotechnical or civil engineer (Dipl.-Ing./Master of Technical University or equivalent or higher) in the field of civil engineering with a specialisation in geotechnics/rock- and soil mechanics. Additionally you possess at least 5 years of professional experience in the field of geotechnics as well as rock and dam engineering, with emphasis on the latter. Moreover you are experienced in analysing and planning of such structures applying numerical methods of calculation. You have also gained experience with in-situ and laboratory geotechnical testing. Excellent English language skills are required – both written and verbal. Additional languages (French and/or Spanish) would be an advantage. You should have relevant overseas experience combined with cultural sensitivity. If you are prepared to travel worldwide and to work abroad we are expecting your application.

We are currently dealing with a client working on a project in South America. They are looking to fill the position of Engineering Geologist with a very experienced candidate. Below are some details on the project and position:

Mission:

The supervision of tunnelling activities(drill and last method – one main tunnel of 5km and 5 meters diameter and 4 other smaller tunnels) and the cavern digging (for the power house of 120Mw). Management of a team of 5 tunnel inspectors and 5 geologists. On site you will be under the supervision of our clients Chief Resident Engineer.

Rotation:

6 working days per week, 3 weeks of work and one week of recuperation or 2 months of work and 3 weeks of recuperation.

The assignment is a long term for about 1.5 years.
