On of our UK consultancies is looking for an experienced Engineer for a position in the South West of the UK.
A Product Engineering Specialist is required to create the product engineering function -be the first such expert in the company and assist in recruitment of additional engineers and creation of the product engineering infrastructure – systems, methods etc.
The Product Engineering Specialist will be responsible for
Performing all product engineering activities on the first four families of products. This comprises all aspects of the new product introduction engineering tasks and subsequently product sustaining tasks for these parts – vendor assessment for test and
assembly, probe yield and final test yield analysis, cost reduction, liaison with designers and device engineers.
Working with Operations and R & D to ensure that a robust new product introduction methodology is put in place for the first and all future products. Creation of the product engineering function.
Liaising on product introduction and manufacturing issues with engineers within company and within subcontractors around the world.
Main Tasks/ Responsibilities
New product introduction
Involvement in the creation of the company new product introduction process
Product yield improvement and cost reduction activities
Product characterisation
Analyses of customer return devices, resolution of manufacturing issues, and initiation of corrective actions
Provide mentoring and training to sales, sub contractor production and engineering staff to enable the support of products in volume manufacture at suppliers and customers
Provide input into recruitment and management of senior product engineers
Participation in and ownership of key tasks in new product project teams
Person Specification
Required skills include:
Experience on Teradyne ATE equipment preferably at both the programming and debug levels.
Proven experience in the testing of mixed signal 1C products.
Familiarity with statistical analysis techniques used in problem solving and manufacturing performance assessment
Knowledge of semiconductor failure analysis techniques
Test hardware debug and good all round electronic engineering skills.
The candidate must:

Be self-motivated, working to achieve given objectives, but also capable of reacting positively to requests for support. Be quality oriented.
